Bogor - Indonesian Minister of Defense Ryamizard Ryacudu accompanied by the echelon I, II officials in the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia held a gathering with the Chancellors and Lecturers of Unhan, UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya, Thursday (6/13), at the Ministry of Defense office in Jakarta.

To the Unhan Chancellor, Lieutenant General TNI Dr. Tri Legionosuko, S.IP, M.AP., the UPN Jakarta Chancellor Dr. Erna Hernawati, Ak, CPMA, CA, the Chancellor of UPN Yogyakarta Dr. Mohamad Irhas Effendi, M.S and the UPN Surabaya Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Fauzi, MMT and the lecturers in their ranks, the Minister of Defense said that the generation of Indonesian leaders in the future must be leaders who have a whole character and nationalism. Intellectuality is a complementary and supporting factor for the totality of integrity of a nation's leader.

From the results of various surveys and research on the formation of leader candidates, it was concluded that the character or integrity occupies the largest portion of 80%, while knowledge is 5%, general knowledge is 5% ,and the ability to make decisions is 10%. This concept is very much in line with the Vision and Mission of UPN and Unhan as the National Defense Campus namely "Becoming a Development Pioneers University based on the spirit of defending the country in the Global era. The Defensive Soul of the Country means that you must have Integrity and strong Character as Patriots and Fighters to oversee the future National Development Process.

The Minister of Defense hopes that Unhan and the UPN can become the pioneers and become a template of the generation pilot projects that will be prepared to guide the development process in Indonesia on all fronts to achieve an equitable, prosperous and secure Indonesia. So, as a candidate for Indonesian leaders, they have a consistent identity in defending Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution in the future.

The  Minister of Defense reminded the main task of the Ministry of Defense, Unhan and UPN which is to be able to educate and produce a future generation of the nation that has the power of Pancasila personality integrity. Also, he also has a strong, resilient, tough, and never give up mentality, away from corruption and radicalism.

The role of the university in the national defense system is as part of the preparation of reserve components that have been carefully prepared with the concept of internalizing the awareness of defending the state, which is essentially cultivation the Pancasila Ideology Mindset. Pancasila is Indonesia itself, replacing Pancasila means replacing Indonesia. Pancasila will arise and sink with this country, the destruction of the Pancasila is the discord of the country.

The Minister of Defense said that now Pancasila is becoming a conversation in the international world because the world is currently in need of an ideology that can unite various kinds of diversity. Pancasila has proven to be able to unite thousands of differences of ethnicity, race, culture and religion. This is a miraculous and great ideology. Therefore, there is no reason for all of us not to guard the Pancasila. "Indonesia is not a religious country but a country with a religious community," said the Minister of Defense.

Therefore, continued the Minister of Defense, it has become our common obligation of all generations and circles to continue to maintain and preserve the Pancasila ideology as the single most effective state ideology in counteracting the swift influences of this materially charged ideology.

The meeting was also attended by the Unhan Deputy Chancellor, I Maj. Gen. TNI Sudibyo, S.E., D.S.S., M.Sc, the Dean of FKN Unhan Laksda TNI Dr. Siswo Hadi Sumantri, S.T., M.MT, the Dean of the FSP Unhan Marsda Dr. Siswo Pudjiatmoko., SE, M.Sc (Han) and the Unhan FTP Dean Romie Oktovianus Bura, B.Eng (Hons)., MRAeS, Ph.D, the Unhan Lecturers and officials, and the Lecturers of UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya.
